Banjar Hot Spring History

Banjar Hot Spring was developed during Japan’s rule of Indonesia. It is thought that Japanese colonists erected it hundreds of years ago. They claim that the hot water may treat skin disorders. This hot spring features three swimming pools for bathing. The first is positioned at the top and has a depth of one meter. The swimming pool is 12 meters long and 1.5 meters broad. The second swimming pool is 12 meters long and 10 meters broad, and it is positioned beneath the first one. The swimming pool’s depth varies from one to two meters. The third swimming pool is located in the west; it has three showers with a height of three meters, and the pool depth is up to an adult’s waist.

Facilities at the Banjar Hot Spring

A ticket office is located next to the parking lot at the entrance to the spring site. Cars and buses stop here, but motorbikes can go along the row of shops to a smaller parking spot next to a roofed stone gate with the signage “Permandian Air Panas” – ‘hot water bathing location’. The souvenir stores that line the walkway before the stone gate sell a wide range of things, including framed art, handicrafts, souvenirs, Bintang shirts, batiks, and colored garments. Following the gate, there is a short pathway and bridge over a small river that leads to another flight of steps. From here, the first smaller pools can be seen, with spouts gushing upon guests enjoying the calming splashing.

A snack and refreshment shop is located farther up the steps. The hot springs complex is divided into four main pool areas, the largest and central of which include a restaurant positioned high above the northern side. There are bathrooms, lockers, and changing rooms next to the restaurant, as well as a spa and massage facility. The bathing pools are built around the hot water spring source and have a tiered design. The first level has eight dragon spouts, as well as a smaller pool bordering this portion. The center bathing pools’ vast size allows families to enjoy a calm swim. The big central pool is located at the second level.
